Solange , Seamstress
Solange is a rare gem. An outstanding seamstress: precise, diligent, passionate, serious, organized, reliable. She is always ready to take on any challenge without hesitation. Every novelty, every special or complicated order passes through his hands. Bed sets, bathrobes, that's her. In addition to her talents as a seamstress, Solange is an absolutely adorable, pleasant, smiling person.
Despite her great skills as a seamstress, it was not until 2018 that she graduated. So she asked Pagne Apple for help to rent a proper workshop. After fruitless research with high rents, she finally opted for the solution of building her workshop in her backyard. This allows her to work at home, at her own pace, by combining her profession and the education of her 3 children as well as possible.

Desiree, Seamstress
Désirée is a seamstress by trade.
It is one of the oldest partners of Pagne Apple. Initially, he was entrusted with the making of capes for infants and ponchos for toddlers, children, and adults; today she is also in charge of the range of animal rugs and door wedges.
She works in her workshop with two young apprentice girls who help her while training in the trade. When we met her, Désirée was the mother of 3 children, including the youngest, Bénédicte Parisienne (her 2 names). Bénédicte accompanied her mother to the workshop, occupied herself in the backyard with the other children, took her nap on a loincloth and took her breastfeed when waking up. It also served as a model for the sizes! Bénédicte is now a big sister since November 2019, and it is now her little brother Winner who follows in her footsteps at Désirée's workshop.

Shopkeeper
Gwladys is a trader in the Baguida district of Lomé; it was with her that the adventure began.
She has a kiosk where she sells loincloths and sandals since 2012. Her daughter Edith replaces her when she is not there, when she goes to get her supplies from wholesalers in the large market in Lomé.
Gwladys is always available and has a real sense of service; she is ready to come and open her shop in the evening and on closing days if we are looking for a loincloth; if it is not there, we make ourselves as at home: we help ourselves!

Koffi is a fashion designer and lives in Lomé in the Baguida district.

When we met him in 2017, he was working on his machine in a small, rather uncomfortable shared workshop. In 2019, he changed premises and we visited him: what a nice surprise!
A pretty little workshop as we like them: everything is well organized between the sewing machines, the threads on their clothes rack, the fitting room, the charcoal iron.

The methods are still artisanal but everything is clean, tidy and functional. We feel that Koffi feels good there, he is very proud of him and us too! Koffi has worked a lot on the classics of Pagne Apple creations: beach towels, bath sets, set of 6 mini-towels.
It is to him that we launched the challenge of the zero-waste range: to think of a model of make-up removing wipes that is functional, with durable seams, practical for traveling, pretty to offer. After several tests, we had our weekly washable wipes!

Nathalie is one of the latest recruits to the Pagne Apple team. She joined the Baguida Team (the couturiers living and / or working in the Baguida district, in Lomé) about a year ago, and is also the youngest of the team: 24 years old!

The meeting took place through the intermediary of his mother, Marcelline, whom I called upon during periods of peak production. She mainly made the sets of 6 mini towels.
Little by little I realized that it was regularly a young girl who delivered the finished orders to me; it turned out that it was his daughter, who was indeed in charge of deliveries, but above all, made.
Indeed, Marcelline began to train her daughter in sewing when she was 19 years old, and gradually gave way to her in the workshop. Nathalie is the example of a partner seamstress that we adore: attentive, calm and composed, careful work, a true trustworthy person who can be counted on.
It is thanks to people like her that orders can be fulfilled, that creations can evolve. Apart from the sets of 6 mini-towels, Nathalie is also in charge of hand towels with hooks, bath sets, little Christmas stars to hang on the trees (which some of you may have discovered in the Christmas markets from Lomé); the diversity of its confections is doomed to expand so much we love this endearing character and the quality of his work.
